A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST

Recently (July 17 and July 18, 2010), I had a booth at the Edgewater Art Fair in Chicago, Illinois.  It was part of a celebration of the Edgewater Community Council's 50th Anniversary.  The Art Fair was juried for admittance ...an outdoor art fair is fun, but very hectic.  I had a simple exhibit showing my artwork in prints and cards, and even magnets -- original art should be available to "many" people to enjoy having a piece of original art.   It is wonderful to have a collector think my artwork worthy to be valuable enough to collect, but it is even better, when many people enjoy my work.

My artwork is fine art photography and photographic art...
"Photographic Art goes beyond pure photography.  It is an evolved image.  I consider Photographic Art as a mixed media art form, not just a manipulated image -- It is taking a digital photography and adding another element:  photographic art software that manipulates the image through various techniques to create another, evolved image with added effects and which sometimes resembles a typical "painting" (the use of tools guided by a mouse click, or with a stylus, can be said to be the "point of the stick" to apply these techniques).  It is similar to taking paint, whether watercolor, acrylic, oils, etc, then using various brush stroke or palette knife techniques to create certain effects within the painting and then perhaps adding paper, sand, fabric wood, rope, ink, or whatever other element.

I create art using a camera and/or a camera and special software techniques as traditional artists use paints of varying sorts, ink, charcoal, pencil graphite, pastels, metals, clay, marble, and the like to create art.  ©2007-2010 Patricia Schnepf
